It was never a surprise to me when Congressman John Moss was given something as prestigious as The John Peter Zenger Award. John was a dear friend who was active in politics for more than 3 decades and was most dedicated to what he regarded as important principles of government. He was determined that the power of government be utilized in a constructive and meaningful manner. John demonstrated his integrity and firm dedication to good government through his actions as a member of the California State Legislature at a time when it was largely dominated by powerful and influential Legislative Advocates who significantly affected the votes of the Legislators on important issues. As an active member of the California Democratic Party, I was close to John when he served in the California Assembly and subsequently in the House of Representatives. I knew of his intelligent and courageous commitment to the best interest of the people and greatly respected him. That my dear friend and public servant has been acknowledged for his consistent and intelligent dedication to good public values and the public interest is not a surprise. Albert S.
